Japan Wine Challenge 2011 Result


14th Japan Wine Challenge 2011
Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th July 2011

 

The 14th Japan Wine Challenge was held from Tuesday 26th to Thursday 28th July 2011 at the Sheraton Miyako Hotel in Tokyo. A total of 1,249 wines were entered and judged by a panel of leading wine professionals from Japan and international. These came from 26 different countries, with the principle entries being from Chile, France, Australia, Italy and Japan.

A total of 11 trophy medals were awarded (0.9% of total entries), 44 gold medals (3.5% of entries), 191 silver medals (15.3%) and 484 bronze medals (38.8 %). Over 70% of the wines enter had a recommended retail price of approximately Yen 2,000 per bottle, testifying to the quality of the wines entered in this prestigious competition.

The Awards Ceremony took place on Friday 29th July at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Roppongi. Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado presented the Trophies.
